Golf Roundup: Bridges Leads West Branch to Runner-up Finish at Tipton Tiger Classic

After weeks of waiting mother nature finally provided weather suitable for playing golf on Thursday.
West Branch took advantage of the warm and sunny weather with a runner-up finish at the Tipton Tiger Classic at the Tipton Country Club.
Ted Bridges shot a 78 to finish third individually as West Branch finished with a 335, 12 strokes back of team champion Central DeWitt and four shots in front of River Valley Conference rival Wilton.
Solon was fifth with a 346 while Regina placed eighth with a 371.
Bridges had six pars on both the front and back nine on his way to a two-over-par 78 in his first 18-hole competition of the season.
The West Branch junior had three bogeys and his lone birdie came on the par-four third while finishing two strokes back of individual champion Rielly McGranahan of Central DeWitt.
Mount Vernon senior Reece Pitlick shot a 77 to finish runner-up.
Matt Whaley shot an 84 and Brady Lukavsky fired an 85 for West Branch.
Mark Schomer finished fifth with an 81 to lead Regina while Solon senior Blake Newell finished eighth with an 81.
Ethan Yahr shot an 83 for Solon.

Clear Creek Amana Defeats Benton Community
Clear Creek Amana downed Benton Community in a WAMAC Conference dual meet on Thursday at Amana Colonies Golf Course.
The Clippers shot a 244 to finish 11 shots in front of Benton Community.
Emily Greathouse shot a 55 to earn medalist honors for Clear Creek Amana while Benton Community’s Rachel Maschino took runner-up honors with a 57.
West Branch Wins RVC Dual
West Branch rolled to a win over Durant on Thursday in a River Valley Conference dual meet at Cedars Edge Golf Course in West Branch.
Aleah Rocha fired a 48 to earn medalist honors while Drew Perkins shot a 49 to finish as runner-up for the Bears.
Lexi Clemens and Lauren Nalan each shot a 56 to round out the West Branch scoring.

Solon Finishes Second at WAMAC Triangular
Solon shot a 221 to finish second at a WAMAC Conference triangular meet on Thursday at Prairie Creek Golf Course in Maquoketa.
Host Maquoketa won the team title with a 189 and West Delaware was third with a 234.

City High Fourth at MVC Quad
City High finished fourth at a Mississippi Valley Conference quadrangular on Thursday at Gardner Golf Course in Cedar Rapids.
Linn-Mar won the team title with a 175 followed by Cedar Rapids Washington with a 191, Cedar Rapids Jefferson with a 219 and City High with a 224.
Emily Knoche shot a 52 to lead City High while Kaylee Paulsen and Grace Bormann each carded a 53.
Tori Niemeyer of Linn-Mar earned medalist honors with a 41 while teammate Kristen Harding shot a 43 to finish runner-up.
