Girls Soccer Roundup: West High Keeps Rolling, City High Snaps Skid

West High continued to roll through Mississippi Valley Conference competition with a 6-2 win over Cedar Falls on Thursday at Barker Field in Iowa City.
Class 3A second-ranked West High improved to 9-0 on the season and 5-0 MVC play while Cedar Falls dropped to 4-5 and 4-2 in MVC games.
Regan Steigleder scored three goals, two coming off Emma Cooper assists, to up her team-leading season total to 15.
Steigleder has scored 13 goals during MVC play helping West High outscore conference opponents 23-3.
Rachel Olson had two goals and Abby Zimmerman capped the West High scoring with a goal in the 60th minute off a Steigleder assist.
City High Snaps Scoreless Skid
After going three games without a goal City High didn’t waste any time stopping its scoreless streak on Thursday.
Madeline Pugh gave City High a lead in the first minute and the Little Hawks never let up, snapping a three-match losing skid with a 3-1 win over Cedar Rapids Prairie at City High.
Class 3A No. 11 City High scored three times in the opening 23 minutes while improving to 5-4 on the season and 3-3 in Mississippi Valley Conference play.
The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for Cedar Rapids Prairie and dropped the Hawks to 4-4 on the season and 3-3 in MVC play.
Pugh put City High up 1-0 with a goal off a Sophie Van Meter assist in the 1st minute.
Van Meter made it 2-0 when she scored off a Kennedy Menzel assist in the 13th minute and Sydney DePrenger added a goal in the 23rd minute following a Sydney Schroder assist.
