Clear Creek Amana didn’t have to wait long for a chance to bounce back from its season-opening loss to Class 1A top-ranked Dyersville Beckman on Monday.
The Clippers didn’t waste any time taking advantage of that opportunity to get back on track.
Clear Creek Amana (1-1) scored eight minutes in and never let up in a 10-0 win over Vinton-Shellsburg (0-1) on Tuesday evening in Vinton.
Mitch Evans scored three goals and Trevor King had two as Clear Creek Amana scored double digit goals for the first time since a 13-1 win over Monticello in 2015.
King started the scoring with a goal off a Sam Evans assists in the eight minute.
One minute later Evans found Nick Ritchie for a goal to put the Clippers on top 2-0.
Tyreke Williams scored off a Wyatt Sedlacek assist and Sedlacek and Chris Malfese added goals to give Clear Creek Amana a 5-0 halftime lead.
Mitch Evans scored three straight goals to start the second half, giving the Clippers an 8-0 lead.
King and John Denny each scored goals off of an assist from Seth Mass to cap the scoring.
Ian McDonald and Blake Mali each had two saves while combining for the shutout in goal.
