Anders Holmes is headed to the state cross country meet.

The Solon junior secured a spot at the state meet with a 10^th place finish on Wednesday at the Class 3A state qualifying meet at the Independence Mental Health Institute.

Holmes finished 10^th in a time of 17:05.9 to earn a spot as an individual qualifier at the Class 3A state meet scheduled for October 30 at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.

Solon finished seventh as a team with 172 points.

Fourth-ranked Mount Vernon-Lisbon won the team title with 45 points followed by seventh-ranked Central DeWitt with 52 points and No. 11 Dubuque Wahlert with 83 points.

Junior Deacon Waddell finished 25^th overall in a time of 17:54.41 for Solon while Colton Kolar was 42^nd in 18:55.52 and James Dooley was 43^rd in a time of 17:56.37.

Marion junior Collin Cook won the individual title in a time of 16:31.29.
