Liberty High pushed its winning streak to five on Tuesday and on Wednesday the Lightning climbed in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union basketball rankings.

Liberty High (13-5) moved up two spots to seventh this week in the latest girls Class 5A basketball rankings released on Wednesday by the IGHSAU.

Liberty High trails top-ranked Johnston, Waukee Northwest, West Des Moines Dowling, Ankeny, Cedar Rapids Washington and Cedar Falls in the Class 5A rankings.

City High (15-4) dropped five spots to ninth in the 5A rankings while West High (13-5) slipped two spots to No. 10.

Clear Creek Amana (16-0) remained atop the Class 4A rankings while Solon (11-6) remained ninth in Class 4A.

Regina (15-4) moved up two spots to a season-high No. 10  in the Class 2A rankings.

Other top-ranked teams this week are Maquoketa in Class 3A, Rock Valley in Class 2A and Newell-Fonda  in Class 1A.
