West High continues to climb the Class 5A girls basketball rankings.

The Trojans moved up two spots to fifth this week in the latest girls basketball rankings released on Wednesday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

West High (11-3) trails top-ranked Johnston, Waukee Northwest, West Des Moines Dowling and Ankeny in the Class 5A top five.

City High and Liberty High each held their spots in the latest 5A rankings.

Liberty High (10-5) remained 10th while City High (12-3) held its spot at eighth in Class 5A.

Clear Creek Amana (12-0) remained atop the Class 4A rankings.

The Clippers are one of only three unbeaten teams in 4A and are followed in the 4A top five by second-ranked Sioux City Heelan (12-0), third-ranked Norwalk (12-1), Dallas Center-Grimes (11-2) and Carlisle (14-0).

Solon (9-4) remained ninth in the Class 4A rankings.

Regina (12-3) remained No. 12 in the Class 2A rankings.

Other top-ranked teams this week are Maquoketa in Class 3A, Rock Valley in Class 2A and Newell-Fonda  in Class 1A.
