Class 4A ninth-ranked Solon couldn’t overcome an early deficit in a 64-60 loss to 3A top-ranked Maquoketa on Monday in a non-conference top-10 contest in Maquoketa.

Maquoketa improved to 11-2 on the season with the win while Solon dropped to 8-4 with the loss.

Delainey Durr led Solon with 17 points while Tenley Levin had 16 points and Jerzey Haluska and Laney Johnson each had 12 points for the Spartans.

Aubrey Kroymann led Maquoketa with 21 points and Cora Widel added 16 points for the Cardinals.
