Softball Roundup: Regina Drops Postseason Opener at Northeast

Northeast overcame an early 1-0 deficit on its way to a 4-1 win over Regina in a Class 2A, Region 5 second round contest on Monday in Goose Lake.
Regina closed the season 8-15 with the loss while Northeast improved to 18-13 and will face eighth-ranked Lisbon in a Region 5 quarterfinal on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Regina took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Lily Nibaur drew a leadoff walk and scored on a Harper Erwin RBI double.
The game remained 1-0 until the fifth.
Jordan Tegeler led off the bottom of the fifth with a triple and scored on an RBI single by C Johnston that evened the score at 1-1.
Northeast took the lead for good on a two-out, two-run home run by Cadence Driscoll.
Nibaur took the loss for Regina allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits while striking out five and walking one.
Erwin and Kylie Mattoon each doubled for Regina while Margaret White, Reese Litton and Melia Pursley all added hits for the Regals.
Luxi Coutu earned the win for Northeast allowing one run on five hits while striking out six and walking two in seven innings.
