The Your Prep Sports area was home to some of the best soccer teams in the state during the 2025 season.
Three Your Prep Sports area teams advanced to the state tournament with Liberty High finishing runner-up at the Class 3A state tournament and Regina advancing to the Class 1A state semifinals.
City High was a Class 4A state qualifier.
The annual Your Prep Sports all-area soccer team is a way to honor some of the individuals responsible for that team success.
The 2025 edition of the Your Prep Sports area boys soccer team features players from all seven schools and is filled with all-conference and all-state selections as well as future college players and school record holders.
City High senior Jack Dancer is the captain of the 2025 Your Prep Sports all-area team after leading the Little Hawks to a 15-2-3 record and a spot in the Class 4A state tournament.
A Drake recruit, Dancer set a City High single season school record with 21 goals and was a 4A all-state selection.

Jack Dancer
Senior, City High (Captain)
One of the top players in the state, Dancer put together one of the best seasons in City High program history while helping the Little Hawks to a 15-2-3 record and a spot in the Class 4A state quarterfinals.
A Drake recruit, Dancer set a City High single season school record with 21 goals on his way to earning first team Class 4A all-state honors from the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association.
A stalwart in the City High lineup the past four seasons Dancer scored seven goals last season as a junior but took his game to another level this spring.
Dancer ranked sixth in Class 4A with 21 goals and produced 46 points, adding four assists on the season while being named Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division athlete of the year.
Laird Holden
Junior, Regina
One of the top players in Class 1A, Holden put together one of the best seasons of any player in the state this spring while helping Regina return to the 1A semifinals for a third consecutive season.
Holden ranked in the top three in Class 1A in points, goals and assists while leading the Regals to a 15-3-3 record, a River Valley Conference title and a spot in the 1A semifinals.
A first-team all-River Valley Conference and 1A all-state selection by the IHSSCA, Holden ranked third in 1A with 30 goals and was second in 1A in both assists (17) and points (77).
Already a three-year starter Holden has scored 41 career goals and added 32 career assists while helping Regina to 49 wins and three semifinal appearances the past three seaso
Daniel Fuentes
Senior, West High
One of the top overall players in the state Fuentes capped a brilliant prep career with a strong senior season in which he led West High in goals for the second consecutive season.
Fuentes scored a team-high 10 goals and led West High with 21 points while helping the Trojans to a 10-6-1 record.
A Class 4A honorable mention all-state selection by the IHSSCA, Fuentes was named the Mississippi Division athlete of the year after helping the Trojans to a MVC divisional title.
A rare four-year starter at West High, Fuentes closed his career with 46 goals and 23 assists.
Abdala Ebdala
Senior, Clear Creek Amana
A mainstay in the Clear Creek Amana lineup the past three seasons Ebdala put the finishing touches on a stellar career with a strong senior season.
Ebdala ranked second on the team in points, goals and assists while helping the Clippers to an 8-4-3 record.
A first-team all-WAMAC West Division selection, Ebdala had nine goals and seven assists en route to 25 points during his final prep season.
Ebdala earned Class 3A honorable mention all-state honors from the IHSSCA ad finished his Clipper career with 29 goals and 14 assists in three seasons.
Conley Sundblad
Senior, Liberty High
Among the top keepers in the state, Sundblad was at his best in his final prep season posting a career-high save percentage while helping the Lightning to a Class 3A runner-up finish.
Sundblad was named MVC Mississippi Division keeper of the year and was a first team Class 3A all-state selection by the IHSSCA after posting 10 shutouts and allowing 14 goals in 21 matches to help the Lightning to a 13-6-2 record.
Since taking over as the Liberty High full-time keeper as a sophomore in 2023 Sundblad dropped the number of goals allowed each season, highlighted by his stellar senior campaign in which he made 55 saves while posting a 79.7 save percentage.
Sundblad helped the Lightning surrender one or fewer goals in 15 of 21 matches this season and closed his career with 192 saves over four seasons.
Liam Teghanemt
Senior, West High
A mainstay in the West High lineup the past four seasons Teghanemt was at his best as a senior helping the Trojans to a 10-6-1 record and a MVC Mississippi Division title.
Teghanemt scored three goals and added three assists from his midfield spot on his way to earning first-team MVC all-Mississippi Division and Class 4A first-team all-state honors from the IHSCCA.
An Augsburg University recruit, Teghanemt scored 10 goals and added 12 assists in his four-year varsity career helping West High rack up 65 wins over that span.
Jackson Nichols-Lindsey
Senior, City High
Nichols-Lindsey was one of a long list of Little Hawks that raised their level of play and offensive production this season to help City High to a second consecutive state tournament appearance.
A three-year starter, Nichols-Lindsey had one assist and no goals in his first two seasons in the lineup but transitioned seamlessly into a larger role this season ranking second on the team in points and goals while helping the Little Hawks to 15 wins.
An Augsburg University recruit, Nichols-Lindsey scored six goals and added two assists on his way to earning second team Class 4A all-state honors from the IHSSCA as well as Mississippi Valley Conference first-team all-Valley Division honors.
Ryan Locke
Junior, Solon
Locke followed up a breakthrough sophomore season with an even better junior campaign this spring leading the Spartans in points and goals for the second consecutive season.
An all-WAMAC East Division selection, Locke led Solon in goals, assists and points while helping the Spartans to a 6-10-1 record.
Locke had career-highs in goals (12), assists (6) and points (30) leading Solon in all three categories while upping his career goal total to 23.
Timmy Hosier
Senior, West Branch
A key piece in the building of West Branch soccer program, Hosier capped a stellar career with a strong senior season in which he earned first team all-River Valley Conference honors.
Hosier scored a goal and had a career-high three assists while helping the Bears to an 8-8-2 record and did his best work on the defensive side of the field where he directed a Bear back line that posted shutouts in five of eight wins.
A four-year starter, Hosier was part of teams that won 53 games and made the first two state tournament appearances in program history.
Roman Riggs
Senior, Liberty High
An impressive senior season from Riggs was instrumental in the season success for Liberty High which posted a 13-6-2 record while reaching the Class 3A title game for the second time in the past three seasons.
A Class 3A first team all-state pick by the IHSSCA, Riggs was the unquestioned leader for a Lightning squad that fell to Urbandale 1-0 in the 3A title game.
Riggs tied for the team lead with eight goals in 14 matches this season on his way to earning MVC second team all-Mississippi Division honors.
A three-year starter that missed all of his junior season with an injury, Riggs closed his career with 25 goals and 12 assists.
Jonah Bowen-Burt
Senior, City High
Bowen-Burt played a central role in helping City High to one of the most successful seasons in recent history ranking second on the team in goals and third in points.
A Mississippi Valley Conference first-team all-Valley Division selection, Bowen-Burt scored a career-high six goals and added an assist while helping City High return to the state quarterfinals for the second consecutive season.
Bowen-Burt ranked third on the team with 13 points for a City High squad that won the MVC Valley Division title and posted a 15-2-3 record.
Evan White
Junior, Regina
A three-year varsity contributor White upped his offensive production and overall play this season while helping the Regals return to the Class 1A state semifinals for a third consecutive season.
White scored five goals and added seven assists in his first two varsity seasons but blew that production away in a breakthrough junior year that saw him earn first team Class 1A all-state honors from the IHSSCA.
A first-team all-River Valley Conference selection, White ranked second on the team with 24 goals and 12 assists this season while helping Regina to a RVC title and 15-3-3 overall record.
Abner Godoy Pacheco
Senior, Clear Creek Amana
Godoy Pacheco built off a breakthrough junior season with a strong senior campaign in which he emerged as one of the top offensive threats in the WAMAC West Division.
The senior forward led Clear Creek Amana in goals and points, ranking third in the WAMAC West Division in both categories while helping the Clippers to an 8-4-3 mark.
Godoy Pacheco earned first team all-WAMAC West Division honors after scoring 13 goals and adding three assists.
In 31 matches over the past two seasons Godoy Pacheco posted 26 goals and 10 assists while helping the Clippers to a 19-9-3 record in that span.
Drew Greve
Junior, Regina
Greve did it all for Regina while helping the Regals to a 15-3-3 record and a spot in the Class 1A state semifinals.
An equally effective player on both the offensive and defensive ends of the field, Greve was instrumental in helping the Regals to a River Valley Conference title and third consecutive 1A semifinal appearance.
Greve earned first-team all-River Valley Conference honors and was a second-team Class 1A all-state pick by the IHSSCA after scoring a goal and adding three assists for the Regals.
A three-year starter, Greve has scored four career goals and added 12 assists the past three seasons.
Tiago Gonzalez
Junior, West High
The more time Gonzalez spends on the field the better the explosive West High junior forward plays.
After scoring six goals and adding three assists during his first two varsity seasons Gonzalez had a breakthrough season this spring earning first team MVC all-Mississippi Division honors after ranking second on the team in goals and points.
Gonzalez scored nine goals and added two assists, ranking second on the team with 20 points while helping the Trojans to a 10-6-1 record and a spot in a Class 4A substate title game.
Japhet Bongo
Senior, Liberty High
The emergence of Bongo as an offensive threat was a huge part of the season success for Liberty High which won the second most matches in program history and advanced to the 3A title game for the second time in the past three seasons.
Bongo tied for the team lead with eight goals and added three assists in his first season as a full-time starter helping Liberty High to a 13-6-2 record and a 3A state runner-up finish.
A first team MVC all-Mississippi Division pick, Bongo earned honorable mention Class 3A all-state honors from the IHSSCA.
Alexander Chappel
Senior, City High
Another Little Hawk senior that came up big in his final prep season, Chappel was a defensive stalwart and offensive catalyst as City High won 15 matches and advanced to the Class 4A state quarterfinals.
A multi-year starter, Chappel ranked fifth in Class 4A with 12 assists this season on his way to earning Mississippi Valley Conference first-team all-Valley Division honors.
One of several City High seniors that played their best soccer this season, Chappel was critical to the overall success for City High which finished with a 15-2-3 record.
Ethan Beard
Junior, Regina
Another experienced Regal that came up big as an upperclassman this season, Beard scored four goals and added two assists to help Regina to a third consecutive Class 1A semifinal appearance.
Beard was a second team all-River Valley Conference pick and earned second team Class 1A all-state honors from the IHSSCA after helping the Regals to an RVC title and 15-3-3 record.
Over the past three seasons Beard has scored 15 goals and added seven assists helping Regina to 49 wins during that span.
Henry Lu
Senior, West High
One of the top defenders in Class 4A, Lu was the leader of a West High back line that limited opponents to 23 total goals in 17 matches this season.
Lu was a first team MVC all-Mississippi Division selection after posting two assists and helping West High to a 10-6-1 record and a Mississippi Division title.
A two-year starter, Lu was the leader of a West High defensive group that allowed one or fewer goals in 11 matches this season.
Finn O’Toole
Junior, Liberty High
A starter since his freshman season O’Toole bumped up his offensive production this season while helping the Lightning return to the 3A title game for the second time in three seasons.
O’Toole scored a career-high five goals and added two assists as Liberty High posted a 13-6-2 record and finished runner-up at the Class 3A state tournament.
A second-team MVC all-Mississippi Division selection, O’Toole has scored eight goals and added six assists over the past three seasons.
