City High’s Dancer, West High’s Fuentes Named MVC Divisional Players of the Year

City High won a Mississippi Valley Conference divisional title and qualified for the Class 4A state tournament last month.
On Monday the Little Hawks were rewarded by sweeping the individual MVC awards when the league announced its postseason honors.
Senior Jack Dancer was named MVC Valley Division athlete of the year, junior Ben Borger-Germann was named keeper of the year and Jose Fajardo was honored as coach of the year after the Little Hawks went 15-2-3 while posting a perfect 7-0 mark in Valley Division contests.
City High had 10 players earn MVC honors including four players that landed on the Valley Division first team.
Seniors Jonah Bowen-Burt, Alexander Chappell and Jackson Nichols-Lindsey joined Dancer as first-team all-Valley Division selections.
Dancer had a single season school record 21 goals and four assists on his way to player of the year honors while Nichols-Lindsey had six goals and two assists.
Bowen-Burt had six goal and an assist while Chappell had a team-high 12 assists for the Little Hawks.
Seniors Lucas Riley, Tatum Born and Josh Borger-Germann were all second-team all-Valley Division picks.
Born had two goals and an assist and Borger-Germann had two goals and four assists for City High.
Riley had a goal and two assists.
Senior Gabe Egeland and senior Noe Semabia were both honorable mention selections for City High.
West High senior Daniel Fuentes was named Mississippi Division athlete of the year to highlight a list of nine Trojans to earn all-divisional honors.
Liberty High senior keeper Conley Sundblad was named Mississippi Division keeper of the year as the Class 3A runner-up Lightning had seven players earn all-division honors.
Fuentes led West High with 10 goals and added an assist on his way to earning first-team all-divisional honors.
Seniors Henry Lu, Liam Teghanemt and junior Tiago Gonzalez all joined Fuentes on the Mississippi Division first team.
Teghanemt had three goals, Gonzalez had nine goals and two assists and Lu had a pair of assists for the Trojans.
Seniors Azaam Guama, Caden Crabtree and Christian Kim all earned second team all-Mississippi Division honors for West High.
Kim had four goals and two assists and Guama had a goal for West High.
Juniors Jack Eastvold and Adam Salem were each honorable mention selections for the Trojans.
Sundblad led the all-division picks for Liberty High earning first team all-Mississippi Division honors after collecting 55 saves while allowing just 14 goals.
Senior Japhet Bogo joined Sundblad on the Mississippi Division first team after leading the team with eight goals and adding three assists.
Junior Finn O’Toole, sophomore Tayson Cho and senior Roman Riggs all were named to the Mississippi Division second team.
Riggs tied with Japhet for the team lead with eight goals while O’Toole had five goals and two assists.
Sophomore Sam Lieu and junior Collin Weis were both honorable mention picks for Liberty High.
