West High had a pair of champions among five top-three finishers while placing third as a team at the Ottumwa Invitational on Saturday at Evans Junior High in Ottumwa.

North Scott won the team title with 683.5 points followed by Cedar Rapids Prairie with 530 and West High with 502.5.

Liberty High placed eighth with 325.5 points.

Alexander Pierce won the 120-pound title and Justin Avila was the 150-pound champion to lead West High.

Class 3A second-ranked Pierce (26-2) posted six consecutive pins on his way to the 120-pound title match where he won a 11-1 major decision over fifth-ranked Ashton Grace of Ottumwa.

Fourth-ranked Avila (27-3) pinned his way to the 150-pound title posting seven consecutive falls capped by a first-period pin of 2A sixth-ranked Carter Folkerts in the title match.

Matthew Tran finished third at 126, Cole Krutzfeldt was third at 138 and Randale Kelly placed third at 285 pounds for West High.

Sterling Warren placed fourth at 175 pounds and Campbell Janis finished fifth at 157 pounds for the Trojans.

Liberty High was led by Rex Edmonds who finished runner-up at 132 pounds.

Edmonds went 6-1 on his way to the runner-up finish dropping an 8-2 decision to Max Pollock of Wayne in the title match.

Benjamin Rosen finished fourth at 120 pounds, Ethan Barber was fifth at 190 pounds while Mason Karam was eighth at 144 and Konstantinos Panos was eighth at 113 pounds.
