Boys Cross Country Roundup: Sorensen, Hilsman Lead CCA To Runner-up Finish at Gilbert Invite

Clear Creek Amana expects to be competing at the state cross country meet in later this fall.
The Clippers got a little sneak peek of what they could see in Fort Dodge in a few weeks.
Isaac Sorensen and Brock Hilsman each posted top-10 finishes as Clear Creek Amana finished third in a loaded field at the Gilbert Invitational on Thursday at the Iowa State Cross Country Course in Ames.
Class 3A top-ranked and Thursday’s host Gilbert won the team title with 22 points followed by 2A second-ranked Pella with 55.
Seventh-ranked Clear Creek Amana was third with 126 points while eighth-ranked ADM was fourth with 144 followed by No. 12 Carlisle with 183 and Class 2A top-ranked Forest City with 197.
Class 2A No. 20 Solon finished 12th with 309 points.
Sorensen led Clear Creek Amana placing fifth in a time of 16:00.1 while Hilsman was ninth in 16:12.9.
Carson Meskimen finished 19th in 16:42 while Nic Schieltz finished 43rd in a time of 17:31.6 and Micah Johnson was 50th in 17:46.7.
Solon was led by freshman Anders Holmes who finished 37th in a time of 17:24.8 while Camden Lyons was 48th in 17:45.3 and Rene Meza was 60th in 17:55.
