The Clear Creek Amana boys track and field team is hitting stride at exactly the right time.

Clear Creek Amana won eight events and had 16 entries automatically qualify for the state meet while claiming the team title at the Class 3A state qualifying meet at the Maple Leaf Athletic Complex in Mount Pleasant on Thursday.

The Clippers rolled up 194 points to easily outdistance runner-up Fort Madison which finished with 117 points.

Sophomore Aren Schlemme won titles in the long jump and 110 hurdles and anchored two of the Clippers’ four relay titles.

Schlemme anchored the shuttle hurdle and 4×100 relay teams to wins as part of a four-win day for the sophomore standout.

Landon Prince added a title in the discus, Isaac Sorensen won the 800 and Clear Creek Amana added titles in both the sprint medley and distance medley relays in an impressive performance.

Schlemme won the long jump with a leap of 22-0 ½ and claimed the 110 hurdle title in 14.78 while teammate Tay Seals was runner-up in 15.05.

Clear Creek Amana also finished first and second in the discus as Prince won with a toss of 154-8 and Brody Clubb was runner-up with a throw of 138-4.

Prince added a runner-up finish in the shot put with a mark of 47-11 ¾.

Sorensen won the 800 in 1:58.93 while Brock Hilsman was runner-up in the 1,600 in 4:42.08, Nicholas Schieltz was runner-up in the 3,200 in 10:13.81 and Thomas Stiltner was second in the 400 hurdles in 56.71.

The Clear Creek Amana 4×100 team of Brayden Frank, Seals, Owen Rosenberg and Schlemme won in 43.84 while Seals, Luke Higdon, Rosenberg and Schlemme won the shuttle hurdle relay title in 1:00.15.

Clear Creek Amana’s distance medley team of Frank, Joey Dains, Cale Berry and Sorensen won in 3:37.34 and Frank, Seals, Rosenberg and Sorensen won the sprint medley in 1:35.66.

The 4×200 foursome of Frank, Dains, Adam Zeman and Rosenberg was runner-up in 1:33.38 and the 4×800 team of Hilsman, Noah Yost, Jackson VanHorn and Sorensen was second in 8:15.39.
