Boys Wrestling Roundup: Wright Wins Individual Title to Lead West Branch at River Valley Conference Meet

Logan Wright won an individual title to help West Branch to a third-place team finish at the River Valley Conference tournament on Saturday at Bellevue High School in Bellevue.
The individual title by Wright highlighted a strong day for West Branch as all 10 wrestlers that competed for the Bears finished in the top four.
Ethan Humphrey, Logan Christoffel, Tate Frantz, Quintyn Rocha and Cooper Gates all added runner-up finishes as West Branch finished with 189.5 points.
Wilton had six champions and won the team title with 224 points while Anamosa crowned four champs and finished runner-up with 202 points.
Seventh-ranked Wright (32-3) won the 285-pound title going 4-0 on Saturday with four pins including a first-period pin of Northeast’s Grant Gray in the title match.
Humphrey (29-3) finished runner-up at 106 pounds falling to sixth-ranked Liam Adlfinger of Wilton in the championship match.
Christiffel (30-6) was runner-up at 132 pounds dropping a 5-1 decision to third-ranked Brody Brisker of Wilton in the title match while Gates (30-2) finished runner-up at 165 pounds losing a 4-3 decision to Ayden Antonelli of Anamosa in the championship.
Frantz (27-10) was runner-up at 190 pounds, falling to Dylan Monk of Monticello 6-4 in the championship and Rocha (29-7) lost a 3-1 decision in sudden victory to Jackson Van Keuren in the 215-pound title match.
Lincoln Edwards was third at 120 pounds, Cale Seydel finished fourth at 157 pounds, Keaton Gates was fourth at 150 pounds and Auron Marsh was fourth at 144 pounds for West Branch.
Regina was led by Cash Hatfield (34-13) who finished runner-up at 138 pounds.
Hatfield went 2-1 on Saturday falling to fifth-ranked Gabriel Brisker of Wilton in the championship match.
Porter Shetler added a sixth-place finish at 190 pounds for Regina as the Regals finished with 30.5 points.
