Hildebrand, Lacy and Ernst Headline Area Mississippi Valley Conference All-Division Selections

Iowa City volleyball standouts Asta Hildebrand, Melae’ Lacy and Claire Ernst had a few things in common this season.
All three helped their respective teams to postseason wins, led their team in kills on the season and served as on-court leaders throughout the season.
On Wednesday all three earned their first postseason recognition.
Hildebrand, Lacy and Ernst were all named first-team all-division selections when the Mississippi Valley Conference released its postseason honors on Wednesday.
A unanimous first-team pick in the Mississippi Division, Hildebrand headlined a list of five Liberty High players to earn MVC all-divisional honors.
Hildebrand earned first-team honors for the second straight season after leading the Lightning with 361 kills on .239 hitting to go with 392 assists.
The junior was second on the team with 299 digs and third with 42 blocks while helping the Lightning to a 19-22 record on a spot in a 5A regional final.
Freshman Edie Miller joined Hildebrand on the Mississippi Division first team after leading Class 5A with 603 digs.
Freshman setter Hadley Miller earned second-team all-Mississippi Division honors after leading the Lightning with 515 assists and 35 ace serves to go with 92 kills and 264 digs.
Senior Gracie Hennings and sophomore Lucy Maassen were both honorable mention picks for Liberty High.
Ernst and Lacy were each named to the Valley Division first team.
A 6-foot, senior Ernst earned first-team all-divisional honors for the second straight season after helping City High to a 23-10 mark and a spot in the 5A regional title game.
Ernst led City High with 344 kills on .274 hitting and was second on the team with 184 digs.
Senior setter Sidney Slay and junior Emmy McComas each earned second-team honors for City High.
Slay led the Little Hawks with 459 assists and 47 ace serves was second on the team with 36 blocks and third with 135 kills and 171 digs.
McComas earned second team honors for the second year in a row after leading the Little Hawks with 227 digs and was second on the team with 227 kills.
Freshman Hattie Galloway and sophomore Jessi Kucera were each honorable mention picks for City High.
Lacy was named to the MVC all-division team for the fourth straight season earning first-time honors for the third time.
The 5-foot-11 Lacy led the Trojans in kills for the fourth straight season with 237, was second on the team with 35 ace serves and third on the team with 180 digs.
West High senior setter Emma Stammeyer earned second team all-Valley Division honors after leading the Trojans in assists (331) and ace serves (36) and ranking second in the team in digs (181) and third in kills (84).
Freshman Sophia Austen and senior Jocelyn Jacobsen were each honorable mention picks for West High.
