West Branch Shuts Out Durant in Regular Season Finale

West Branch had an impressive ending to the regular season with a 42-0 win over Durant on Friday at the Little Rose Bowl in West Branch.
It won’t be the final home game for the Bears.
With the combination of its win over Durant on Friday and a Regina victory over Wilton West Branch earned a runner-up finish in Class 1A, District 5 and will host a playoff game next Friday.
The Iowa High School Athletic Association will release playoff pairings on Saturday at 10 a.m.
West Branch was impressive in its regular season finale on Friday racking up 368 yards of total offense.
Sophomore quarterback Brennen Dale passed for 208 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for 64 yards and three touchdowns as West Branch improved to 5-3.
Dale threw touchdown passes of 3 yards to Conner Capper and 46 yards to Joe Hamann and had touchdown runs of 9, 3 and 1 yards as West Branch put up a season-high point total.
Auron Marsh rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown and Cale Seydel ran for 46 yards as West Branch racked up 160 yards on the ground.
Trenton Schutte caught four passes for 62 yards and Holden Arnaman had three receptions for 63 yards for the Bears.
As good as West Branch was on offense on Friday the Bears were better defensively.
West Branch held Durant to 39 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers while posting its second shutout of the season.
The Bears didn’t allow a first down until the final drive of the first half for the Wildcats and limited Durant to two first downs in the game.
Senior defensive tackle Logan Wright had a team-high nine tackles including six tackles for loss and a sack to lead the Bear defensive effort.
Schutte recovered three fumbles and senior Bradyn Sexton had five tackles including 1.5 for loss.
Cooper Gates had 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack and Quin Rocha added a tackle for loss.
