Class 3A ninth-ranked Solon finished fifth in a loaded field at the Williamsburg Invitational on Tuesday at the Williamsburg Sports Complex.

The Spartans placed fifth with 141 points as the 17-team meet that had a top-10 comprised entirely of ranked teams.

Class 3A second-ranked Pella won the team title with 40 points followed by fifth-ranked Carlisle with 80 and fourth-ranked Mount Vernon-Lisbon with 113.

No. 15 South Tama was fourth with 129 points followed by Solon and Class 2A No. 15 Williamsburg with 162 points.

Class 2A sixth-ranked Vinton-Shellsburg, 2A No. 14 Tipton, 1A No. 17 Danville and 2A No. 17 Pella Christian rounded out the top-10.

Solon senior Brick Kabela placed sixth overall in a time of 16:36.61 while Michael Yeomans was 24^th for the Spartans in 17:25.72.

Colin Bumsted placed 32^nd in 17:46.75, Lawsin Sinnwell was right behind in 35^th place in a time of 17:55.65 and Evan Burg placed 44^th in 18:03.77 for Solon.
