Softball Roundup: Liberty High Completes Regular Season With Sweep of No. 13 Maquoketa in Top-15 Doubleheader

Class 5A No. 14 Liberty High capped the regular season with a doubleheader sweep of 4A No. 13 Maquoketa on Monday in North Liberty.
Liberty High won the opener 6-5 in 13 innings and took the nightcap 8-3 to improve to 22-13 on the season while Maquoketa dropped to 25-9.
Haileigh Smith hit a game-winning double to center field to score Kinley Jones in the 13th inning of the opener as Liberty High rallied from an early 3-0 deficit.
Smith was 2-for-4 with two doubles, four RBI and a run scored in game one while Kelsey Kaut went 4-for-6 and scored a run.
Haley Schroeder was 2-for-6 with a home run, a double and four runs scored and Mischa Reiners and Ella Kate Fort each had two hits for the Lightning.
Brynlee Slockett had a double and drove in two runs and Kinley Jones had a hit and scored a run.
McKenna Kelley earned the win working two scoreless innings of relief.
Slockett had a double, scored twice and drove in a run in the nightcap and Kennedy Daugherty had a triple and drove in a run.
Ava Tague had two hits and drove in a run, Jones had a hit and scored a run and Kaut had a double, drove in a run and scored a run.
Smith had a hit , drove in a run and scored a run and Reiners had a hit, drove in two and scored a run.
Kelley earned the win allowing three runs on three hits while striking out one in a complete game.
