Baseball Roundup: West High Splits Doubleheader With 4A No. 10 Cedar Falls in MVC Finale

West High split a doubleheader with Class 4A No. 10 Cedar Falls on Monday in Iowa City dropping the opener 9-8 in eight innings and winning the nightcap 4-2.
The Trojans moved to 17-21 on the season with the split in the Mississippi Valley Conference finale while Cedar Falls is now 23-14.
Zach Logsdon led five West High players with multiple hits in the opener going 4-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored.
Jacob Koch had three hits and drove in two runs and Mitch Frey had two hits, drove in two runs and scored a run.
Carter Freidhof and Nate Anderson each had two hits and scored a run for West High while Ben Hoefer had a hit and drove in a run in game one.
Anderson took the loss in relief allowing one run on four hits in two innings.
West High scored four runs in the first inning of the nightcap which was enough to earn the split.
Ryne VanderLeest had two hits and scored a run and Logsdon had a double, drove in two runs and scored a run.
Koch doubled and drove in a run and Freidhof had a hit and scored a run for West High.
Four different pitchers combined to hold Cedar Falls to pair of runs on five hits.
Nate Heenan allowed one run on two hits in two innings, Luke Ernst worked a scoreless inning, Braden Doyle allowined one run on three hits in two innings and Anderson worked two scoreless innings striking out two.
