West Branch has found its footing at precisely the right time.

The Bears won for the third time in the past four games on Saturday, this time extending their season with a 36-31 win over Lisbon in a Class 2A, Region 1 opener in Lisbon.

West Branch improved to 6-16 with its third win in nine days, a stretch that started with a 42-34 win over Lisbon on February 2 in West Branch.

Lisbon closes its season 10-12.

Kylie Pickett had 16 points, five steals and three rebounds to lead West Branch as the Bears advanced to the Region 1 quarterfinals.

West Branch will travel to East Buchanan (15-6) for a quarterfinal contest on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Sadie Smith had nine points, eight rebounds and two steals on Saturday and Avery Schultes had five points, three rebounds and three steals in the win.
