One of the most dynamic players in the state has settled on his hoops future.
High-scoring Liberty High senior guard Da’Shon Fisher announced his commitment to Des Moines Area Community College on Thursday with a post on social media.
“I am blessed and excited to say that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at DMACC,” Fisher wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way.”
Following a breakthrough junior season a year ago Fisher has emerged as one of the top scorers in the state this season.
Fisher ranks fourth in Class 4A in scoring this season at 20.6 points per game and has scored 20 or more points nine times in 16 games this season including a season-high 34 in a win over City High last month.
The 6-foot Fisher enjoyed a breakout season as a junior leading Liberty High with 17.4 points per game to go with 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists while earning first team all-Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division honors.
Fisher has been even better this season as a senior.
In addition to leading the Lightning in scoring Fisher is averaging team-bests of 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game and is second on the team with 5.6 rebounds per contest.
Fisher is shooting 55 percent from the floor including 38 percent from beyond the 3-point line and 70 percent from the free throw line, all career highs.
