Hailey Hested
Liberty High graduate and current Mount Mercy sophomore Hailey Hested earned all-conference honors for the second consecutive season from the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
The Heart of America co-freshman of the year and a third-team all-conference pick last season, Hested was a first-team all-conference selection this season as a sophomore.
Hested was named conference setter of the week three times, ranks 20th in the NAIA averaging 9.66 assists per set finishing the season with 821 assists.
In two seasons Hested has amassed 1,580 career assists and is currently eighth in program history.
Mackenzie Murphy
City High graduate and Mount Mercy senior Mackenzie Murphy capped a stellar senior season by earning third-team all-conference honors from the Heart of America Conference.
Murphy led the Mustangs with 288 kills and kills per set (3.06) and had a team-high 32 ace serves.
The senior outside was second on the team with 344 digs on her way to earning all-conference recognition.
Jared Brinkman
Regina graduate and former Northern Iowa standout Jared Brinkman helped the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League win the 109th annual Grey Gup with a 24-23 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Brinkman, who signed with Toronto in September, was a two-time Missouri Valley Defensive Player of the year at Northern Iowa.
The 6-foot-2, 290-pound defensive lineman made a pair of tackles in the Grey Cup win.
