Solon finished eighth at the 22-team Luther College Invitational on Saturday in Decorah finishing behind five ranked Class 4A teams and a pair of out-of-state opponents.

Class 3A fourth-ranked Solon finished with 251 points, seven in front of 3A second-ranked Mount Vernon-Lisbon which finished ninth with 258 points.

Liberty High was 15^th with 403 points and Regina was 22^nd with 550 points.

Class 4A top-ranked Dubuque Hempstead won the team title with 83 points followed by second-ranked Pleasant Valley with 92 points

Sixth-ranked West Des Moines Valley was third with 129 points, third-ranked Johnston was fourth with 130 and Bloomington Jefferson was fifth with 224.

Kayla Young led Solon with a 10^th place individual finish in a time of 18:41.88.

Young led four Solon runners in the top 60 as Gracie Federspiel was 55^th in 20:22.59, Sydney Dee was 57^th in 20:27.02 and Mary Fiala was 58^th in 20:29.08.

Malia Taylor finished 60^th in 20:44.08 to lead Liberty High while Cori Mac was 85^th in a time of 21:06.49.

Regina senior Mya Whitaker finished in 20:56.59 to lead the Regals.

Addison Dorenkamp of West Des Moines Valley won the individual title in 17:49.92 while Megan Lee of Bloomington Jefferson was third in 17:47.42 and Oliva Verde of Johnston was third in 18:02.32.
