Kayla Young won the individual title to help Solon to a runner-up team finish in the Class B race at the 42^nd Mike Carr Ballard Invitational on Monday in Huxley.

Young won the Class B race in a time of 19:27.9 to lead a trio of Spartans that finished in the top 15.

Solon and Gilbert each finished with 66 points with Gilbert placing first on the tiebreaker.

Des Moines Christian and Atlantic each finished with 103 points and Iowa Falls was fifth with 114.

Mary Fiala placed seventh in a time of 20:44.7 for Solon while Anna Quillin was 14^th in 21:17.7.

Gracie Federspiel placed 16^th in 21:18.9 and Ashlyn Williams was 28^th in 22:03.4 for the Spartans.
