West High split a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional doubleheader with Linn-Mar on Monday in Marion dropping the opener 7-5 before taking the nightcap 10-4.

The Trojans improved to 14-14 and 8-14 in MVC play with the doubleheader split while Linn-Mar moved to 14-13 and 11-11 in conference play.

Noah DeSaulniers led West High in the opener going 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored while Aiden Van Iddekinge was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and a run.

Ryne Vander Leest had a hit and drove in a run and Ben Hoefer, Jacob Koch and Cade Adkins all had hits and scored runs for the Trojans.

Adkins took the loss for West High allowing five runs, four earned, on eight hits while striking out four and walking two in 5 1/3 innings.

In the nightcap West High snapped a 2-2 tie after one inning with a three-run third on its way to a 10-4 win.

Koch went 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored while DeSaulniers was 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Vander Leest was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI and Nathan Stephens and Van Iddekinge each drove in a run for West High.

Adkins had a hit and Carter Freidhof and Mitch Frey each scored runs for the Trojans.

DeSaulniers allowed four runs on six hits and struck out six in three innings and Stephens worked three innings of shutout relief to earn the win.
