Liberty High Senior Logan Named MVC Mississippi Division Keeper of the Year

Liberty High enjoyed the most successful season in program history this spring winning a school-record 15 matches and coming a win away from the state tournament.
On Monday the Lightning began to reap the rewards of its historic season.
Senior Jaxyn Logan was named keeper of the year, coach Sonny Travis was coach of the year and the Lightning had seven players earn all-division honors when the Mississippi Valley Conference released its postseason awards.
Travis directed Liberty High to a 15-4 record, including a 5-2 mark in MVC Mississippi Division play, and a spot in the Class 3A substate finals on his way to earning divisional coach of the year honors.
Logan, a starter at keeper since his freshman season, allowed just seven goals while posting 13 shutouts and making 62 saves while being named Mississippi Division keeper of the year.
Seniors Joslin Gembo and Amah Ajavon joined Logan on the Mississippi Division first team.
Ajavon led the Lightning with 15 goals and added six assists while Gembo had a team-high eight assists and ranked third on the team with 10 goals.
Junior Hayden Saul and sophomore Flori Gembo were each second-team picks for Liberty High while junior Forrest Saul and sophomore Cooper Saul earned honorable mention honors.
City High had seven players earn all-division honors highlighted by a trio of first-team selections.
Seniors Aaron Rutherford, Jacob Eisenberg and Benjamin Horwitz were all named to the Mississippi Division first team.
Juniors Emmitt Hansen and Jerry Mwenemkamba were second-team selections for the Little Hawks while juniors Andrew Lopez and Barick Macabi were honorable mention honorees.
Valley Division champion West High had nine players earn all-division honors after going 18-3 and advancing to the Class 3A state tournament.
Seniors Miguel Cohen-Suarez and Nick McDonnell, junior Michael Nelson and sophomore Adarsh Khullar were all named to the Valley Division first team.
Nelson set a West High single-season scoring record with 36 goals and had seven assists while Cohen-Suarez had 12 goals and six assists.
McDonnell allowed seven goals this season while making 61 saves in goal.
Khullar had two assists for the Trojans.
Seniors Teo Gonzalez and Bazz Vande Hey were second-team selections along with sophomore Haider Nasr.
Freshman Liam Teghanemt and Daniel Fuentes earned honorable mention honors for the Trojans.
