Baseball Roundup: City High Shuts Out Bettendorf For Eighth Consecutive Win

Class 4A third-ranked City High improved to 12-2 on the season and stretched its winning streak to eight with a 10-0 five-inning win over Bettendorf on Wednesday in a non-conference matchup at Mercer Park in Iowa City.
Max Waldschmidt tossed a three-hit shut and City High hammered 11 hits while winning its eighth straight game and third in two days.
Waldschmidt struck out four and walked one in the five-inning complete game.
Six different Little Hawks had a hit in the win led by senior shortstop Gable Mitchell who went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored.
Carter Seaton had a hit, walked twice, scored twice and drove in a run and Gavin Koch had a hit, walked twice, scored a run and drove in two runs.
Cade Obermueller doubled, scored a run and drove in a run and Drew Carlson doubled and scored a run.
John Klosterman had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run.
Bettendorf had a three-game winning streak snapped with the loss and dropped to 5-2 on the season.
