Girls Soccer Roundup: City High Falls to Fourth-ranked Waukee Northwest in Regional Final

City High entered the postseason playing its best soccer of the season.
The Little Hawks ran into an opponent doing the exact same thing on Thursday.
Class 3A No. 11 City High had an eight-match winning streak snapped with a 3-0 loss to fourth-ranked Waukee Northwest in the Class 3A, Region 6 title match in Waukee.
The win was the fifth straight for Waukee Northwest (16-2) and sends the Wolves to the Class 3A state tournament in their first season as a program.
It was the first loss for City High since a 5-3 setback to Linn-Mar on April 26 and closed the season for City High at 12-4.
Waukee Northwest led 1-0 at the half and put the match away with two goals in the second half.
Junior Natalie Gallagher had two goals and sophomore Samantha Eltjes added a goal for Waukee Northwest while sophomore Josie Vande Krol had two assists.
