For the second consecutive week Liberty High has moved up in the Class 5A girls basketball rankings.

Winners of three straight games, Liberty High (11-6) climbed one spot to No. 13 in the most recent Class 5A rankings released by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union on Thursday morning.

The Lightning join City High and West High in the Class 5A top 15.

City High (14-2) jumped two spots to seventh in the 5A rankings while West High (13-3) dropped to No. 9.

Clear Creek Amana (13-5) remained No. 15 in the Class 4A rankings for the second consecutive week.

The Clippers have won seven games in a row and have regular season games remaining with 3A No. 6 Center Point-Urbana and 4A No. 12 Benton Community.

Top-ranked teams in this week’s ranking are Johnston (5A), Dallas Center-Grimes (4A), Unity Christian (3A), Dike New-Hartford (2A) and Newell-Fonda (1A).
