Wrestling Roundup: Clear Creek Amana, Solon Claim Titles at Girls WAMAC Conference Meet

Clear Creek Amana and Solon each had wrestlers claim individual titles on Saturday at the girls WAMAC Conference meet at Solon High School.
Junior Emma Descourouez won the 117-pound title to lead Clear Creek Amana while Solon got a title from senior Cheyenne Mulford at 122 pounds.
Descourouez pinned Olivia Primrose of Vinton-Shellsburg in 1:57 and won a 6-4 decision over Safina Yermetova of Solon on her way to the 117-pound title.
The title by Descourouez highlighted a strong showing by Clear Creek Amana as the Clippers had nine wrestlers finish in the top five at their weight class.
Emma Mathis was runner-up at 122 pounds and Caitlyn Williams was runner-up at 172 pounds for Clear Creek Amana.
Claire Vittetoe was third at 107, was Marlie McBride was third at 112 and Stormy Bauwens finished third at 127.
Teagan Schreiber was fourth at 122, Kaly Thomas was fourth at 137 and Haley Descourouez finished fifth at 127.
Mulford led Solon with a title at 122 pounds winning a 12-2 major decision and pinning Schreiber in the semifinals before pinning Mathis in 3:19 in the championship match.
Addison Burden was third at 137 pounds and Olivia Bonnema was third at 132 pounds for the Spartans while Eleanor Gnida was fifth at 137 and Emilee Suchomel was fifth at 172.
