Class 5A fifth-ranked West High held off a late rally from Cedar Rapids Xavier to earn a 47-45 win over the Saints in a top-10 matchup at West High.

Meena Tate hit a pair of late free throws as West High improved to 7-1 on the season with its second straight win.

Class 4A No. 8 Cedar Rapids Xavier dropped to 7-3 on the season.

Tate had 16 points to lead all scorers while Anna Prouty added 11 points and seven rebounds to lead West High.

Lucy Wolf had seven points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals and Keiko Ono-Fullard had five points and three assists for the Trojans.

Melae’ Lacy had six rebounds for West High.

Freshman Libby Fandel led Cedar Rapids Xavier with 15 points and Mary Kate Moeder had nine for the Saints.
