One of the most decorated runners in Solon history has found her future home.
Solon senior Emma Bock announced her commit to continue her track and field career at Texas Tech on Wednesday with a post on social media.
“I am very thankful to be able to announce that I am continuing my future academic and athletic career at Texas Tech University,” Bock wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to everyone that has supported me along the way.”
In two appearances at the state track and field meet Bock has collected eight medals including four golds and six top-three finishes.
Bock emerged as one of the top middle distance runners in the state last spring with an impressive junior season capped with a stellar showing at the state track and field meet.
She claimed four state meet medals as a junior running the anchor leg on Solon’s winning distance medley and 4×800 relays and also anchoring the Spartans to a runner-up finish in the 4×400.
Bock also placed third in the 800 in a time of 2:14.91 as a junior.
As a sophomore Bock helped Solon win the distance medley and the 4×400 relays, was a part of the Spartans fourth-place finishing 4×800 team and placed sixth in the 800.
Also a standout on the Solon cross country team, Bock was a four-time state qualifier and helped Solon win the first state title in program history last month with a career-best ninth-place finish at the 3A state meet in a time of 19:30.7.
