Hartman Named MVC Divisional Athlete of the Year For Second Straight Season

Add another accolade to the rapidly accumulating list of career achievements for Liberty High junior Cassidy Hartman.
Hartman was named Mississippi Valley Conference divisional player of the year for the second consecutive season on Wednesday when the league released its list of postseason awards.
Already a two-time all-state player, Hartman was named Mississippi Division player of the year after leading the Lightning to a second consecutive unbeaten conference season, the number one ranking in Class 5A, a 34-4 record and a third consecutive state tournament appearance.
Hartman joined teammate Shelby Kimm as a unanimous first-team selection the Mississippi Division after leading Liberty High with 392 kills (4.1 per set) while ranking second on the team with 386 digs and 48 blocks and third with 26 ace serves.
Kimm earned first-team all-division honors for the second consecutive season after ranking second on the team with a career-high 258 kills.
Kimm had a team-high 48 ace serves, was third on the team with 339 kills and fourth with 29 blocks.
Hartman and Kimm highlighted a list of eight Liberty High players to earn all-division recognition.
Senior libero Gabbie Schroeder was a first-team pick in the Mississippi Division after leading the Lightning with 451 digs and ranking second on the team with 27 ace serves.
Senior Sam Harvey, sophomore Mariah Rollins and freshman Asta Hildebrand were all second-team selections.
Harvey had a team-high 51 blocks and was third on the team with 156 kills while Rollins led the Lightning with 578 assists.
Hildebrand had 403 assists, 126 kills and 164 digs in her first varsity season.
Junior Lilah VanScoyoc and senior Carlie Schroeder were each honorable mention selections for the Lightning.
Liberty High co-head coaches Randy Dolson and Allie Kelly were named Mississippi Division coaches of the year after directing the Lightning to the divisional title.
City High had four players earn all-division honors in the Mississippi Division led by senior setter Makayla Ribble and sophomore hitter Claire Ernst who were both named to the second team.
Ribble led City High with 718 assists and 32 ace serves and ranked third on the team with 98 kills and 250 digs.
Ernst led the Little Hawks with 320 kills, ranked second on the team with 26 ace serves and added 212 digs.
Freshman Emmy McComas and senior Morgan Turner both earned honorable mention status in the Mississippi Division.
West High had five players earn all-division honors in the Valley Division led by senior Katherine Kouba and sophomore Melae’ Lacy who were each first-team selections.
Kouba led the Trojans with 410 digs and was second on the team with 33 ace serves while Lacy had a team-high 247 kills and ranked second on the team with 35 blocks.
Senior Sydney Woods was a second-team pick after ranking second on the team with 172 kills and a team-high 38 ace serves.
Seniors Carmen Crabtree and Mayowa Dokun were each honorable mention honorees for West High.
