West High’s McKane, City High’s Washburn Named MVC Divisional Athletes of the Year

After sweeping the title at the Mississippi Valley Conference Super Meet and Divisional meet West High senior Alex McKane officially added another conference honor to an already impressive senior season on Monday.
The West High senior standout was named MVC Valley Division athlete of the year on Monday when the conference released its postseason honors.
McKane claimed titles at the Super Meet and Divisional meets earlier this month and headlines a group of 16 Your Prep Sports area athletes to earn spots on the postseason all-divisional teams that are set by finishes at the divisional meet.
City High junior Ford Washburn was named Mississippi Division athlete of the year and City High coach Jayme Skay was coach of the year after directing the Little Hawks to the divisional title.
Washburn led an impressive list of postseason honorees for the Little Hawks.
Juniors Noah Carey and Ammon Smith joined Washburn on the Mississippi Division first team while seniors Elliot Dunnwald and Sullivan Hall and junior Truman Thompson were all second-team members.
Junior Braeden Mark and senior Parker Max earned honorable mention status for City High.
Liberty High senior Christian Montover was a second-team honoree while senior Logan Nelson earned honorable mention status for the Lightning.
McKane was one of six West High athletes to appear on the Valley Division team.
Junior Seth Cheney joined McKane on the first team while sophomore Michael Lee and freshman Moustafa Tiea were both second-team members.
Junior Asher Overholt and senior Caden Noeller each earned honorable mention status.
