West High had a pair of top-five finishers and secured a spot at the state meet on Wednesday with a third-place finish at the 4A state qualifying meet at Pickard Park in Indianola.

Senior Alex McKane finished runner-up and Seth Cheney was fifth for West High as the Trojans finished third with 66 points.

West Des Moines Dowling won the team title with 30 points while Norwalk was runner-up with 57.

McKane finished runner-up to West Des Moines Dowling junior Jackson Heidesch in a time of 16:00.

Heidesch won the title in 15:36.

Cheney was fifth in 16:40 for West High while Caden Noeller added a 16^th place finish in a time of 17:16.

Michael Lee finished 21^st in 17:33 and Asher Overholt was 22^nd in 17:36 for the Trojans.
