Boys Golf Roundup: Brunk Leads Liberty High at Class 4A District Meet

Liberty High finished sixth at the Class 4A district meet at Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames on Tuesday finishing with a team score of 326.
West Des Moines Dowling won the team title with a 301 while Southeast Polk was second with a 309 and Johnston was third with a 312 to earn spots at the 4A state meet on Friday and Saturday.
Ankeny Centennial was fourth with a 314 followed by Indianola with a 322.
Tate Brunk led the Lightning finishing 14th overall with a 78. Brunk shot a 37 on the front nine and a 41 on the back nine and missed qualifying for the state meet as an individual by a single stroke.
JJ Grimm shot an 81 for the Lightning while Ryan Schmierer carded an 82 and Braden O’Connor an 85.
Jack Winkel of Ankeny Centennial won the individual title with a 71 while Jackson Yurgae of West Des Moines Dowling was one stroke back with a 72.
