Senior Spotlight
Gabbi Bullard, Solon
Parents: Nicki Bullard and Tom Bullard
Siblings: Alissa Zimmerman, Tyler Asbe, Breanna Bullard, Anthony Bullard
Sports/Activities: I just do track and field now, but I played volleyball throughout high school. I’m involved in extracurriculars like student council and peer leaders, and I am also a part of Iowa Speed Track and Field Academy.
How did you get involved in sports?: I have been in sports as long as I can remember. It started with T-ball and gymnastics and I’ve been in at least one sport ever since.
Favorite moment from athletics: My favorite athletic moment is seeing all of my teammates, family, and friends at the ramp after getting 5th at Drake in the 400 hurdles my junior year.
A person that has influenced you: I can’t narrow it down to one person, but I have always been influenced by all of the Iowa Speed coaches. They have been my coaches since I was ten years old and I have always looked up to them because they know a lot about the sport and are great teachers, but they are also just super amazing people. Coach Sands is another big one. He is never afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve but he also has this insane seriousness and competitive side about him as well. He leads our team so well and helps to shape so many young women into great leaders, athletes, and people. He’s truly a one of a kind coach and person.
Hobbies: Outside of school I hang out with my friends a lot, play with my dogs, workout, binge watch Grey’s Anatomy, and coach with Iowa Speed.
Favorite class: My favorite classes that I’ve taken so far are Anatomy and Physiology, and Chemistry/Advanced Chemistry.
Favorite food: My favorite food is blueberry pancakes.
Favorite book: I just finished the Harry Potter series and it’s definitely my favorite series. I love Relentless by Tim Grover and Mind Gym by Gary Mack. I just started the Program series by Suzanne Young.
Favorite movie: My favorite movie is How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days or Bridesmaids.
How are you spending time with school closed?: I am learning yoga, teaching myself how to play the ukulele, reading, doing school stuff, and playing with my dogs a lot.
Future plans: I will be attending the University of Iowa in hopes of getting accepted into their Physical Therapy program after my undergrad. I will also be competing as a heptathlete with the Hawks.
