There is a new number on in the Class 3A girls cross country rankings.

A week after jumping to second in the Class 3A rankings Solon took over the top spot on Tuesday when the Iowa Association of Track Coaches released its most recent set of rankings.

Solon leads Dallas Center-Grimes, previously top-ranked Sioux City Heelan, Carlisle and Gilbert in the 3A top five.

Also in Class 3A Clear Creek Amana made its season debut in the rankings entering at No. 20.

Regina held its spot at fifth in the Class 1A rankings trailing top-ranked South Winneshiek, Logan-Magnolia, Pekin and Fort Dodge St. Edmond.

In Class 4A City High is No. 13, West High climbed two spots to No. 14 and Liberty High returned to the rankings at No. 16.

Other top-ranked teams this week are Des Moines Roosevelt in 4A and Mid-Prairie in Class 2A.
