Boys Golf Roundup: Liberty High Fourth at First MVC Divisional Meet

Liberty High had a pair of golfers finish in the top 10 on its way to a fourth-place team finish at the first Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Divisional meet on Monday at Brown Deer Golf Course in Coralville.
Ryan Schmierer and JJ Grimm each shot a 75 on Monday to finish ninth and 10th respectively as the Lightning finished fourth with a 308.
Cedar Rapids Washington shot a 295 to win the event while Cedar Falls and Cedar Rapids Prairie each shot a 298.
City High was eighth with a 390.
Tate Brunk fired a 78 for Liberty High while Vaughn Tyler closed with a 35 on the back nine to card an 80 for the Lightning.
Ethan Nace led City high with a 90 while Arthur Hall shot a 94 for the Little Hawks.
Nile Petersen of Cedar Rapids Washington shot a four-under-par 67 to earn medalist honors and edge runner-up Max Tjoa of Cedar Falls by one stroke.
