A season for the City High baseball team that featured 29 wins, a top-10 ranking and a share of a conference title now comes with a slew of postseason awards.

City High had four players earn first-team honors and Brian Mitchell was named Mississippi Division coach of the year when the Mississippi Valley Conference released its postseason honors on Thursday.

Juniors Cade Obermueller, Gable Mitchell, Carter Seaton and John Klosterman headlined a group of seven Little Hawks to earn all-division honors landing on the Mississippi Division first team.

Mitchell, Seaton and Klosterman were all unanimous first team selections.

Seaton and Mitchell were both unanimous first-team picks as middle infielders after leading City High in batting average.

Mitchell hit .352 with nine extra-base hits and 30 RBI and led the Little Hawks with, 32 stolen bases, 41 runs and 24 walks.

Seaton hit a team-leading .357 with nine extra-base hits, scored 32 runs and drove in 27.

Klosterman did it all for the Little Hawks while earning unanimous first-team honors as a utility selection.

The junior batted .319 with a team-high 15 extra-base hits including two home runs and 28 RBI and also went 4-2 with a 1.64 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 38 1/3 innings.

Obermueller was a first team selection as a pitcher after posting a 4-1 record with a 1.65 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 29 2/3 innings.

Junior Joey Bouska earned second team honors for City High as an outfield following a season in which he hit .342 with 26 runs and 18 RBI.

Senior Cedric Dunnwald and sophomore Alex Knudtson were both honorable mention selections for City High.

Liberty High had a pair of players earn first team Mississippi Division honors as senior TJ Kimm was a first-team pick as a catcher and junior Jack Funke was a utility pick.

Kimm hit .327 with nine extra-base hits and 25 RBI and led the Lightning with 21 walks.

Funke batted .346 with a team-leading 13 doubles and 27 RBI and walked 16 times.

Seniors Ethan O’Donnell and Keian Secrist each earned honorable mention status for the Lightning.

West High had five players earn all-division honors in the Valley Division led by senior Marcus Morgan who was a unanimous first team pick as a pitcher.

An Iowa recruit, Morgan was 4-2 with a 1.48 ERA in 56 2/3 innings, striking out 108 and walking just 17.

Morgan also batted .396 with six home runs and 48 RBI while scoring 35 runs and walking 24 times.

Junior catcher Cade Adkins and sophomore first baseman Mitch Frey were both named to the Valley Division second team.

Adkins hit .240 with 19 RBI and 22 walks while Frey batted .327 with nine doubles, 31 RBI and a team-high 28 walks.

Junior Noah DeSaulniers and senior Alex McKay were honorable mention picks for West High.
