Baseball Roundup: City High Splits MVC Doubleheader at Cedar Rapids Jefferson

Class 4A No. 10 City High split a doubleheader with Cedar Rapids Jefferson on Monday in Cedar Rapids dropping the opener 3-2 and winning the nightcap 17-5.
City High moved to 27-12 on the season and finished 23-7 in MVC play while Cedar Rapids Jefferson is now 7-31 and ended the conference season 5-25 in MVC games.
Cade Obermueller went 2-for-3 with a double in the opener while Joey Bouska had a hit and drove in a run and Jacob Means and Gable Mitchell each had a hit and scored a run for the Little Hawks.
Cedric Dunnwald and John Klosterman added hits and Gavin Koch drove in a run for City High in game one.
James Kriz earned the win in relief in the second game, allowing one run on three hits while striking out four in 3 1/3 innings of relief.
City High hammered 17 hits in the nightcap with Mitchell leading the way going 4-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI.
Klosterman had a grand slam and also doubled in game two, finishing 2-for-4 with four RBI and four runs scored.
Means went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored and Obermueller was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored.
Dunnwald went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Alex Knudtson had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run and Koch had a hit and scored a run.
Bouska went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI.
