Class 3A fourth-ranked Solon had 30 hits and scored 33 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Vinton-Shellsburg on Monday at the Solon Nature and Recreation Area.

Solon won the opener 17-2 in four innings and took the nightcap 16-5 in five innings while improving to 24-8 on the season and 19-3 in WAMAC Conference play.

Vinton-Shellsburg dropped to 1-26 on the year and 1-21 in conference games.

Parker Pentico picked up the win in the opener allowing two runs on three hits while striking out two and walking three in four innings.

Brady Jeworrek went 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored and Brett White was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI to lead Solon.

Blake Timmons was 2-for-3 with a double, scored three runs and drove in a run and Gehrig Turner was 2-for-3 with a double and drove in three runs.

Cade Chapman had a pair of doubles and drove in three runs and Ben Cusick was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Michael Pipolo had a hit, an RBI and scored three runs and Jackson Ryan had a hit and scored a run.

Carson Shive had a hit and scored three runs for the Spartans.

Jacob Smith earned the win in the nightcap allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits while striking out one and walking one.

Ryan was 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Drew Turner was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and four RBI.

Shive had two hits and scored three runs, Jeworrek was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored and Timmons was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Gehrig Turner had a hit, scored two runs and drove in a run.
