Boys Basketball Roundup: Regina Gets Back on Track With Win Over Tipton

Regina didn’t need long to get back on track following Tuesday’s loss to West Branch.
Class 2A seventh-ranked Regina rebounded from its second loss of the season with a 65-41 win over Tipton on Thursday in a River Valley Conference South Division matchup in Iowa City.
Regina improved to 8-2 on the season and in RVC play with the win while Tipton dropped to 4-9 and 3-8 in conference play.
After having just two players score in the loss to West Branch on Tuesday eight different Regals got into the act on Thursday led by Danny Molony with a game-high 16 points.
Masen Miller added 14 points, Josh Dutchik had nine and Coltrae Kerschen added eight for the Regals.
Trent Pelzer led Tipton with 13 points.

West Branch Wins Ninth Straight
West Branch picked up right where it left off in its win over seventh-ranked Regina earlier in the week by shooting 56 percent from the field in a 65-49 road win over Durant on Thursday.
Four players scored in double figures led by senior point guard Matt Whaley with a season-high 18 points as West Branch improved to 10-1 on the season and 9-1 in River Valley Conference play.
Whaley went 6-of-7 from the floor, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range and added three assists and three steals as West Branch won its ninth straight game.
Simon Palmer added 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting while Gavin Hierseman and Jeff Bowie each had 10 points.
Tanner Lukavsky had a team-high seven rebounds and four points for the Bears.
Durant dropped to 6-6 and 5-5 in RVC play with the loss.
