Boys Basketball Roundup: Liberty High Snaps Skid With Win Over Dubuque Wahlert

Liberty High snapped a two-game losing skid with a 64-59 win over Dubuque Wahlert on Tuesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division matchup in North Liberty.
Andre Brandon led four Liberty High players in double figures with 17 points as the Lightning improved to 5-2 on the season.
Dubuque Wahlert dropped to 2-5 with the loss.
Ira Hazeltine had 14 points while Ethan O’Donnell added 12 and Kelby Telander had 10 for Liberty High. Cael Schmitt had a game-high 22 and Jacob Schockemoehl had 22 for Dubuque Wahlert.

Clippers Roll Past Benton Community
Clear Creek Amana bolted to a 19-point first-quarter lead and cruised to a 62-42 win over Benton Community in a WAMAC Conference West Division matchup on Tuesday in Tiffin.
The Clippers improved to 6-3 with the win and moved to 3-1 in WAMAC West Division play while Benton Community dropped to 3-6 on the season and 1-3 in WAMAC West Division contests.
Tyler Schrepfer had 12 points, five assists and four rebounds to lead Clear Creek Amana while Brock Reade and Christian Withrow each added 11 points.
Nick O’Connor had nine points and Ryan Navara added eight for the Clippers.

Cook Leads Regina Past Cascade
Ashton Cook poured in a game-high 20 points as Class 2A seventh-ranked Regina ran its winning streak to four with a 49-43 win over Cascade in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in Cascade.
Masen Miller added 15 points as Regina improved to 7-1 on the season and in River Valley Conference play.
Caden Reinke had 14 points for Cascade which dropped to 4-5 on the season and 4-4 in RVC play with the loss.

West High Stops Second-Ranked Hempstead
Ben Vander Leest hit a pair of free throws with 3.7 seconds left to lift Class 4A eighth-ranked West High to a 54-53 win over second-ranked Dubuque Hempstead in a top-10 matchup on Tuesday in Iowa City.
Even Brauns had 17 points and Vander Leest added 14 as West High improved to 6-1 on the season while Dubuque Hempstead dropped to 7-1 with the loss.
Andrew Tauchen added eight points and Tate Crane has six for West High which was without starters Marcus Morgan and Nick Pepin.

City High Holds Off Western Dubuque
City High built an 11-point halftime lead and held on for a 51-48 victory over Western Dubuque on Tuesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division contest in Iowa City.
The win was the fourth straight for City High and improved the Little Hawks to 5-2 on the season while Western Dubuque dropped to 2-6 with the loss.
Keshawn Christian had 19 points, 12 rebounds and three assists to lead City High while Byron Benton added nine points for the Little Hawks.
Kolby Kucera had eight points and seven rebounds and Jamari Newson had four points, four rebounds and four assists
Keyoun Agee had six points, five rebounds and three assists for City High.
