Baseball Roundup: City High Splits With Cedar Rapids Kennedy in Top-10 Doubleheader

Two of the top teams in the Mississippi Valley Conference took turns using stellar pitching performances to pick up wins while splitting a doubleheader between ranked teams on Tuesday evening.
Class 4A eighth-ranked City High and No. 10 Cedar Rapids Kennedy split an MVC cross-divisional double dip with City High winning the opener 2-1 and the Cougars claiming the nightcap 5-0.
City High moved to 2-2 on the season while Cedar Rapids Kennedy is now 3-3.
City High junior Cade Obermueller took a no-hitter in the seventh and allowed just one hit while leading the Little Hawks to a 2-1 win in game one.
Obermueller allowed one unearned run on one hit while striking out six and walking two in the complete game.
John Klosterman had two hits in game one while Joey Bouska doubled and scored a run for the Little Hawks.
Gable Mitchell had a hit and Gavin Koch scored a run in the win.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy sophomore Rowan Donels returned the favor with a one-hitter in the nightcap as the Cougars salvaged a split with a 5-0 win.
Donels struck out nine and walked two allowing just single to Cedric Dunnwald.
JayKennedy took the loss for City High giving up just one run on four hits while striking out eight and walking two.
