Girls Basketball Roundup: West Branch Picks up Road Win at Northeast

Class 2A eighth-ranked West Branch remained unbeaten in River Valley Conference play with a 59-40 win over Northeast on Friday in Goose Lake.
Sasha Koenig poured in 26 points and added five rebounds, four assists and four steals as West Branch improved to 2-1 on the season and 2-0 in RVC play.
Northeast dropped to 1-2 on the season and in conference play with the loss.
Lexie Peak had eight points for West Branch and Kaiya Luneckas finished with six points, 15 rebounds and two blocks.
Taylor Thein added six points four steals and three assists in the win.
West High Falls to Red-hot Cedar Rapids Prairie
Cedar Rapids Prairie senior guards Malloy McDermott and Sidney McCrea caught fire on Friday night combining for 65 points to lift the Hawks to a 78-52 win over West High in a top-10 matchup in Cedar Rapids.
McDermott had eight 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 38 points and McCrea added 27 points as Class 5A ninth-ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie improved to 2-0 on the season.
Tenth-ranked West High dropped to 1-1 on the season.
Matayia Tellis had 19 points and eight rebounds and Audrey Koch added 16 points and six boards for West High.
