West High won three events and finished third as a team at the Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Divisional meet on Thursday at Dalzell Field in Dubuque.

Mason Applegate and Alex McKane each won individual titles for the Trojans as West High finished behind team champion Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Dubuque Senior in a tight three-team race.

Cedar Rapids Kennedy won the team title with 153 points followed by Dubuque Senior with 148 and West High with 144.5.

Dubuque Hempstead was fourth with 94 points while Cedar Rapids Jefferson was fifth with 66.5.

Applegate won the shot put with a toss of 49-11 and also finished third in the 400 and sixth in the 200 for the Trojans.

McKane won the 3,200 in a time of 9:36.7 to go with a runner-up finish in the 1,600 in 4:31.82 and also anchored the winning West High distance medley relay team.

Trey King, Izaiah Loveless, Asher Overholt and McKane won the distance medley in a time of 3:47.85.

Fabian Brown was runner-up in the 200 in 23.02 and Jason Lu was second in the 110 hurdles in 15.32.

West High added a runner-up finish in the shuttle hurdle relay.
