The Your Prep Sports Alumni Report is a weekly segment that recognizes the accomplishments of graduates from YPS area schools that are continuing their careers as student athletes at the collegiate level. Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts as well as honoring those athletes that continue to excel at the next level.
Jared Brinkman
Regina graduate and current Northern Iowa senior Jared Brinkman was named the Missouri Valley Football conference defensive player of the year last week after leading the conference with nine tackles for loss from his defensive tackle spot.
Brinkman finished the season with 38 tackles, was second in the league with two forced fumbles and had three quarterback hurries and recovered a fumble.
Peyton Steva
West High graduate and current Indian Hills freshman Peyton Steva set a school record in the 100 hurdles at the Drake Relays on Saturday finishing eighth in the college division of the event.
Steva clocked a 15.0 in the finals after posting a 15.28 in the prelims.
Brylee Klosterman
Liberty High graduate Brylee Klosterman had a hit in three consecutive games to help Iowa go 1-2 in a three-game series at No. 24 Minnesota over the weekend in Minneapolis.
The freshman center fielder went 5-for-11, scored three runs and drove in two during the three game series and is now hitting .250 on the season with six runs and seven RBI.
