Boys Cross Country Roundup: City High Runner-up at 28-Team Luther College Invitational

City High had three runners in the top 25 on its way to a runner-up finish at the 28-team Luther College All-American Invitational on Saturday in Decorah.
Truman Thompson, Lance Smith and Evan McElroy all placed in the top 25 as City High finished runner-up with 117 points.
Bloomington Jefferson won the team title with 107 points while Linn-Mar was third with 122 and Liberty High was fourth with 129.
Regina finished 23rd with 590 points.
Thompson led City High finishing 18th in a time of 16:57.1 while Smith was right behind in 19th place in a time of 16:58.5.
McElroy was 22nd in 17:09.1 and Parker Max placed 26th in 17:15.2.
Liberty High also had a trio of top-25 finishers led by Jack Kinzer who was 11th in a time of 16:41.
Bowen Gryp was 12th in 16:49.5 and Peter Woodward was 21st in a time of 17:08.8.
Joe Maley placed 66th in 18:04.2 to lead Regina.

Hinman Leads Solon at Benton Invitational
Gabe Hinman placed third in a time of 17:10 to lead Solon to a fifth-place finish at the Benton Invitational on Saturday at Roundhouse Nature Trails in Atkins.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy won the team title with 32 points followed by Cedar Rapids Jefferson with 61, Mount Vernon-Lisbon with 78 and Williamsburg with 84.
Ben DeValk placed 18th in 18:12.9 for Solon and Tyler Bilskie was 24th in 18:30.9.
