Audrey Koch got the ultimate reward for her outstanding regular season on Tuesday in the form of a return trip to the state tournament.
Less than 24 hours after scoring a career-high 34 points in a regional final win over Davenport North leading West High to its first state tournament berth since 2018 the individual accolades have already begun to pour in for the West High senior standout.
Koch was named Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division player of the year for the second consecutive season on Wednesday when the conference announced its postseason honors.
The 5-foot-11 Koch ranked fourth among all MVC players in scoring at 20.1 points per game while ranking as one of the most efficient offensive players in the state.
Koch shot 59 percent from the floor, including 41 percent from beyond the 3-point line while tying for the team lead with 24 made 3-pointers.
A Providence recruit, Koch averaged 6 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.1 assists per game while helping West High to a 13-3 record.
West High has now had a divisional player of the year each of the past four seasons with Koch joining Lauren Zacharias and Logan Cook as Trojans to win the conference player of the year honor during that stretch.
A four-time all-conference pick, Koch was honorable mention as a freshman before earning first-team honors each of the past three seasons and is the fifth Trojan since 2015 to win Divisional player of the year honors and first to win it more than once.
Senior Matayia Tellis joined Koch on the Valley Division first team for the second consecutive season.
Tellis ranked second on the team in scoring and assists averaging 11.3 points and 3.3 assists per game while leading the Trojans with 2.4 steals.
Sophomore Meena Tate and junior Emma Ingersoll-Weng were each named to the Valley Division second team.
Tate averaged 8.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while Ingersoll-Weng averaged 8.8 points, 3.3 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
Senior Jenna Saunders and sophomore Anna Prouty earned honorable mention status.
Saunders averaged 4.3 points and 2.1 assists per game while Prouty averaged 4.6 points and 5.4 rebounds.
